He began his acting career as a child, playing in his father's film "Corral". Closer to the early 1990s, Downey became a sought-after actor, particularly through roles in many films. The most famous and successful role of Downey is the role of Charlie Chaplin in the eponymous biopic of Richard Attenborough, which brought him a BAFTA award and the first nomination for "Oscar".
